Ashley Sutherland
LCSW, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist
Hi, I’m Ashley. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your child’s struggles—whether it’s trauma, emotional challenges, or behavior issues—I’m here to help. With over a decade of experience working with children and teens, I specialize in supporting families as they navigate difficult times.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, I’ve spent the last twelve years working with children ages 3-18 as an in-home behavioral coach, school-based therapist, school social worker, and outpatient therapist. Childhood issues I often work with include difficulty regulating emotions and behavior, stressful life/family transitions, challenges at school, and relational struggles with parents, siblings, and peers.
Over the years I’ve found it especially rewarding to offer a therapeutic space for children who have experienced trauma or chronic stress, including exposure to violence, parental substance abuse, and high conflict divorce. I also enjoy working with teenage girls, helping them build self-confidence and navigate the emotional complexities of adolescence.
In my work, I view relationships as the key to transformation and healing. I create a safe, playful environment where your child can explore and grow from their struggles, and where you as a parent are offered nonjudgmental support and parenting strategies uniquely suited to your child.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2012, and my therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centered principles, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and the healing power of play. I consider myself a lifelong learner and am continuously motivated and inspired by my clients to grow and evolve as a therapist.
