Lindsey Boland, LCSW, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist™

Lindsey earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University with a Clinical Concentration in Violence Against Women and Children in 2014. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist. In addition, she completed an Adoption and Foster Care Certificate Program through Rutgers University.

Lindsey is originally from New Jersey but has lived in Colorado for the last six years and now calls Denver home. The only thing Lindsey believes Colorado is missing is a beach. She lives with her husband, son, and cat named Figaro.

Lindsey has worked in many different roles including in-home play therapist, outpatient child and adolescent therapist, permanency caseworker and school-based social worker for children with serious emotional disabilities and mental health needs. She knows how to help families navigate complicated systems and work with outside providers. Lindsey was also diagnosed with ADHD and Dyscalculia, so she enjoys walking alongside and working with neurodivergent children and the families that support them.

Lindsey is currently enrolled in the Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy certification through The Embody Lab. She loves exploring various therapy modalities and is always looking to expand her knowledge and skill set.

There are two main reasons Lindsey loves being a play therapist. The first is witnessing authenticity, growth and empowerment in children. The second is working with parents and caregivers to increase compassion and curiosity regarding challenging behaviors and co-regulation to become more grounded and present.

Parenting is hands down the hardest job in the world. Lindsey provides ongoing coaching and support to caregivers and loved ones who are looking for an additional layer of support. She loves working 1:1 with adults to explore the messages, either implicit or explicit, they received from their parents during their own childhoods, which undoubtedly impact the way they show up and parent today. She also loves providing additional resources and tools and will provide you as many articles, books, podcasts, videos, etc., as you would like!

Lindsey’s therapeutic approach is holistic and based in mindfulness, authenticity, attachment and psychoeducation on the brain and nervous system. She is informed by Relational Neuroscience (how brains behave in relationship) and Polyvagal Theory (the science of safety). She has worked with children and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, grief and loss, chronic trauma, ADHD, developmental delays, sensory processing and many other areas of need. She primarily works with children ages 3-11.

Lindsey's passion is working directly with youth and families and empowering them to be the best versions of themselves. Progress, not perfection is her mantra.
